Frat Party

This is hilariously true. I found it here.

WHY HAVING A TODDLER IS
LIKE BEING AT A FRAT PARTY

10. There are half-full, brightly-colored plastic cups on the floor in every room. Three are in the bathtub.

9. There's always that one girl, bawling her eyes out in a corner.

8. It's best not to assume that the person closest to you has any control over their digestive function.

7. You sneak off to the bathroom knowing that as soon as you sit down, someone's going to start banging on the door.

6. Probably 80% of the stains on the furniture contain DNA.

5. You've got someone in your face at 3 a.m. looking for a drink.

4. There's definitely going to be a fight.

3. You're not sure whether anything you're doing is right, you just hope it won't get you arrested.

2. There are crumpled-up underpants everywhere.

1. You wake up wondering exactly how and when the person in bed with you got there.

Happy Birthday my dear baby boy!

Well, I'm late with the Elin 8 month photos....but, I am right on time for Carson's birthday!!! Both things that have been keeping the Schienbein house busy lately. Here's the scoop on E:

1. She is ALL OVER this house! She is doing the "army crawl" that Carson did too...
and she is an exploring machine!
2. Much to my dismay, she's been saying "Da Da!" That was Carson's first
word too. What's the beef? :)
3. She continues to be happy 99.99% of the time. Such a sweet-pea.
4. She sleeps through the night almost every single night. She's an angel!
5. It has been discovered that she LOVES swimming! When we take her in the pool,
she splashes and kicks and has the time of her life. We've
got ourselves another little fish!

And, the other news.....my baby boy is 3 years old today! I cannot believe it's been that long since I held my precious first born in my arms. Amazed that Brian and I had created something so beautiful. He is truly a dream come true. I love him a little bit more every single day. Here are some of his favorites right now:

1. Shrek! That was the theme of his birthday party.
2. Trains.
3. Toy Story. He got the Buzz Lightyear doll from his sisters
for his birthday, and the Woody doll from his Grandma Shanna. He's
totally set.
4. Being outside. Doesn't matter what he's doing. He just
loves being outdoors. He'd sleep out there if we'd let him.
5. Sprinklers! He loves to run in sprinklers. And it's so awesome when he
does it. He laughs, and hollers like it's the funnest thing on Earth.
The innocence and pure joy of a little boy running through a sprinkler is
such an amazing sight to see.

For a reason, none of us know, Carson does NOT enjoy having Happy Birthday sung to him. If you'll remember last year, while the staff at Red Robin sang to him, he laid his head on the table and closed his eyes. This year, this is what he decided to do.

During his party, some of the guests decided to swim. I didn't think Carson would want to, since neither Brian or I were swimming. BUT, we were mistaken. He got in, clothes, shoes and all!

Schienbein kids get doughnuts for their birthday breakfast. Carson LOVED this...but didn't love his dad wanting to take a picture of his chocolate face!

We held off giving Carson a gift from us until his actual birthday. So, when he came downstairs this morning, this is what greeted him. He was very excited!
Yep. That dang Happy Birthday song again!

Not too much else is new in our house. Still trying to get the house into shape. It will likely be a work in progress for YEARS to come. But, the pool has been swam in, and enjoyed this summer, and that was important to us.

The summer is coming to an end very soon. Tayler's first day of school is at the end of the month, and then these carefree days of summer will be but a wonderful memory! So, we're doing what we can to pack these last few weeks full of fun......
